imondi Flooring’s main product range for different format styles is our engineered hardwoods. Consisting of a veneer pressed onto a plywood base, this process allows the wood to breath, adapt and expand through any of our format patterns.
We use the following standards to keep our format patterns high in quality, easy to maintain and for longer life expectancy.
Wood has a tendency to expand or contract with changes in the relative humidity and the temperature of the environment in which it is installed. The engineered construction minimizes these expansions and contractions and problems associated with these movements such as cracking, gaps, cupping or bowing. This increased stability also makes engineered floors ideal for tougher installation environments such as basements, waterside installations or environments with under-floor heating.
Due to this increase in stability engineered floors can safely be manufactured and installed in lengths and widths far superior to solid floors made from the same species. Please look at our portfolio for samples of our installations.
Engineered floors can be installed using the floating installation method if required. The floating installation method is easier, cheaper and quicker than most other installation methods in common practice.
Engineered floors are more environmentally friendly as the soft wood base portion of the engineered floor is, by definition, made with a more rapidly renewable material than the hardwood veneer.
When both engineered and solid floors require sanding for maintenance or restoration purposes, both constructions can only be sanded down to the level of the tongue and groove; after which, by definition, the floor needs to be replaced. Therefore an engineered floor with a hardwood veneer that goes down to the level of the tongue and groove has exactly the same life-span as the equivalent solid floor.
